Our SMOKED Wild Sockeye Salmon comes from sustainable fisheries in the Salish Sea off Lummi Island in the Northwest Pacific. These are WILD Sockeye Salmon, NOT farmed.
Lummi Island seafood is sustainably sourced using both reefnet fishing and hook and line methods.
Reefnet fishing is a passive fishing method. The main advantage is in its lack of by-catch mortality. Unwanted species are simply released from the live well back into their natural environment. They use no fossil fuels, only solar charged batteries to run their equipment, allowing for the smallest carbon footprint of any salmon fishery.
Their fisherman work with local tribes to produce the best salmon available. Fish are frozen just minutes after being caught, preserving the fish’s flavor and texture.
